Hi, I'm Kista.
I am a rule follower (so, yes, becoming an artist is in itself a plot twist). According to "Designing a Website" rules and standard best practice, I'm supposed to have an About page, and according to Google, this page is supposed to establish an emotional connection, define my brand identity, and build trust.
Rule 1: Page in place. Check.
Rule 2: Read on.
I am a self-taught, give it your best shot, practice is progress, 1% better every day kind of artist. My partner would tell you I see the world different. I would tell you I see it through the eyes of a child. But we both agree, my sense of humor is what causes creation 98% of the time (and the fact that I experience the majority of things as events rather than mundane tasks because it makes life much more interesting).
I have 2 ways of comfortable professional humaning...
(1) Behind a proverbial curtain building someone else's dream.
(2) Teaching.
Pretty Little Plot Twist is about building and living my own dream. The one where I wrap my arms around my inner child and show her love by letting her create. And the one where I wrap my arms around my adult self and show her love by letting her come out from behind the curtain.
I make art because I like making things that make people feel something (myself included). Sometimes it's pretty. Sometimes it's curious. Sometimes it's eye-roll cheeky. Sometimes the humor takes a second to land.
If you enjoy beautiful things, clever details, or humor that makes you stop for half a second before you get it, welcome! I'm really glad you're here.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-
I leave pencil marks on my original work. Creation is a process, and I intentionally don't try to hide it.
-
I do not frame my artwork because you know better than I do what frame is going to match your aesthetic.
-
All cards come with an envelope because a naked card is weird.
